EAST DAY 1 - OPENING NIGHT
Eastern Canada Youth Up! 2019 Opening
Livin More for the Mission
The grand youth event of the summer for the PMCC (4th Watch) in Eastern Canada commenced on June 28, 2019. Youth Up! 2019 aims to encourage our young believers in the church to be more involved in the faith through inclusive activities and inspiring messages.
The night started off with a countdown that led to the firebrand praise and worship team performing their opening number which engaged the youth in unity while an energetic presence filled the air. Before the special presentations, the Eastern Canada sub-district coordinator, Pastor Asherlyn Campos gave the welcome remarks to set off the service with joy and excitement.
There were also multiple videos showcasing the progress of the firebrand ministry. Its successful development includes "Firebrand Circles" which were introduced as different ministries within Firebrand such as music, structures, ventures and many more. This was followed by a rap of praise and a mashup song of praise from the Toronto Firebrands entitled "Amazing Grace/So Will I"
The keynote speaker for the Youth Up opening was none other than the sub-district coordinator of the Western Canada, Bro. Rodrigo Surillla. His message focused on this year’s theme of
"Living More for the Mission." There were three essential ways discussed on how to live more: Seek meaning and purpose, look beyond your current circumstances, and dare to believe. God has a divine plan for us and young people in the church possess the potential to turn their effort into something great. As Youth Up continues, we anticipate more exciting things ahead for the Firebrand ministry. (J. Relleve)
EAST DAY 2
The second day of Youth Up! began in morning devotion. The youth along with the rest of the brethren came to God with the willingness to fulfill God's purpose in them and to ask for His grace and strengthening in the spirit.
This was followed by seminars that tackled current issues in the world today. Pastor Asherlyn Campos gave a seminar that talked about certain behavior patterns with their corresponding arguments, homosexuality and denying sinful desires. In seminar 2, Sis. Tanya Bico admonished a message that encompassed the youthful desires of belonging, fitting in, and curiosity in trying the many things they are exposed to. However, we must have the conviction to stand up and follow what God says in not conforming to the world.
The worship service was led by the firebrand praise and worship. Pastor Asherlyn gave a stirring message about Josiah who was not basic and instead, stepped up and became extraordinary in living more for God. After that, the firebrands were divided into groups; Junior Firebrand and Senior Firebrand, in which each age group were given workshops. Lunch was served and this was a time of fellowshipping as everyone ate together and shared their experiences. The Firebrand leaders assembled stations with different games such as life sized jenga, connect four, basketball, and many more, where the youths were able to have fun and just enjoy their time together.
We finished the day with a bonfire at Bluffers park. There were competitive games along with smores and fellowshipping. Finally, the word of God was delivered by Bro. Kenneth Ines about a life worth living. The night ended with each one writing their dedication to God, what they want to offer for God and what they want to let go for Him. These dedications were writing on paper as well as on the hearts of the youth and then they were burned similar to how burnt offerings were offered up to God in the Old Testament. This Youth Up! will certainly not be just a time for bonding, but God's moving power manifested in the transformed lives of many young people. (A. Mosqueda)
EAST DAY 3 - LIVIN' MORE CRUSADE
June 30, 2019 marked the end of the Eastern Canada Youth Up! 2019. Its conclusion was held in the Albert Campbell Square and was one for the books.
The Firebrand hosted their first ever outdoor crusade which was a first in the district of Canada--the "Livin More for the Mission Concert". The concert showcased the talents of various young people of the church including local guests performers. The event was graced with the preaching of God's words delivered by the sub-district coordinator of Eastern Canada, head pastor of PMCC (4th Watch) Toronto and firebrand as well, Ptr. Asherlyn Campos.
God's moving was seen and felt as brethren, guests and passersby gathered in that place and filled it with sounds of praise to our God. The spirit and energy of a firebrand was shown through the entire crusade. This year's Eastern Canada Youth Up will indeed be an unforgettable one. To God be the Glory! (A. Bico)
